Easy access is provided via the A10, A20 and A89 Autoroutes, together with the N10 dual carriage-way.
Château Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted off the D20 road between Aubeterre-sur-Dronne and Ribérac.
FROM PARIS AND THE NORTH
EITHER
Travel south on the A10 to junction 30, then take the N10 south, direction Angoulême. (Note that this road is frequently subject to radar speed checks). Turn off the N10 at the St. Michel turnoff taking a left turn over the bridge, onto the D104. After several roundabouts join the D674, signposted to Voeuil-et-Giget and Montmoreau. At Montmoreau turn left onto the D709, signposted to Aubeterre and Ribérac. (Follow the D709 down a right turn just after you cross the railway line). After 4 km take the right-hand road, the D10, to Aubeterre. At the bottom of the hill in Aubeterre turn right onto the D2, direction Ribérac. When you leave the Charente and enter the Dordogne the road number changes to D20. 4km from Aubeterre, at a sharp right-hand bend, Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted to the left.
OR
Travel south on the A10 to junction 36, then take the D732 to Pons. From Pons take the D700 to Archiac, then join the D731 to Chalais (via Barbezieux). Take the D2 to Aubeterre, turning right onto the D10 at the T-junction, going down the hill with the village to your left. At the bottom of the hill turn right onto the D2, direction Ribérac. When you leave the Charente and enter the Dordogne the road number changes to D20. 4km from Aubeterre, at a sharp right-hand bend, Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted to the left.
FROM LYON AND THE EAST
Périgueux is approached from the east via the A89 and N89. From the city centre take the D710 to Ribérac. Then follow signs to Aubeterre and Royan. Continue on the D20 for 12km until, at a sharp left-hand bend, Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted to the right.
FROM TOULOUSE AND THE MEDITERANEAN
Travel north on the A20 (reached via the A61 and A62) until junction 51. Travel to Périgueux from the east via the N89. From the city centre take the D710 to Ribérac. Then follow signs to Aubeterre and Royan. Continue on the D20 for 12km until, at a sharp left-hand bend, Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted to the right.
FROM BORDEAUX AND GREEN SPAIN
The Bordeaux Rocade (ring road) is reached from Spain using the N10 and A63.
From Bordeaux Mérignac Airport you will join the Rocade at junction 11b. Travel east, following signs towards Paris and Angoulême, until Périgueux is signposted at junction 1. Take this turning onto the south-bound Rocade.
Exit the Rocade at junction 26, turning left at the traffic lights onto the east-bound N89, towards Périgueux. Continue onto the A89, turning off at junction 11, signposted Coutras. Turn right at the roundabout and travel 4km east on the N89 into the centre of St. Médard de Guizières. Turn left onto the D21, and after 13km turn right onto the D674 to La Roche Chalais. Towards the north of the town centre turn right onto the D5 to St. Aulaye, where you should take the left turn which is signposted to Aubeterre. At the bottom of the hill in Aubeterre turn right onto the D2, direction Ribérac. When you leave the Charente and enter the Dordogne the road number changes to D20. 4km from Aubeterre, at a sharp right-hand bend, Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted to the left.
Angoulême station (45 minutes by road from Château Le Mas de Montet) is linked by TGV to:
- Poitiers (44 minutes)
- Paris Montparnasse (2 hours 15 minutes)
- Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport TGV (3 hours)
- Lille Europe (4 hours)
This provides a wide range of connections with Eurostar (Angoulême to London in 7 hours) and Thalys (Brussels in less than 5 hours, Amsterdam in 8 hours).
